Advocacy & Awareness
by Hollie Dimmock
Welcome to Cosmos!
Environmental justice is a passion of mine and sits at the forefront of this site. The name Cosmos reflects not only the universe and the entirety of the Earth, but also my birth month flower, which symbolises balance and justice, principles that guide both efforts to address environmental challenges and the legal frameworks that underpin fairness and sustainability.
I am still learning, both in environmental law and advocacy, but this is a safe space to document my progress. I aim to explore how law can be a tool for meaningful change, share insights from research and writing, and reflect on the ways legal systems intersect with environmental issues. I’m looking forward to sharing this journey with you.

NICE TO MEET YOU
Welcome to Cosmos!
This is a space where I can share my journey and progress exploring environmental issues, viable solutions, and the role that law and policy can play in creating meaningful change. A little about me: I live in Devon on a smallholding with a few animals and an allotment where we grow food and plants. I’ll likely write a lot about our progress there, as I love discovering new ways to keep both the land and animals thriving.
I studied Law at the University of Buckingham and completed an LLM in Global Environment and Climate Change Law at the University of Edinburgh. During my time in Edinburgh, I gained invaluable insights into environmental policy, international law, and climate governance. I have also visited some incredible places that I hope to explore further through this blog. Family is important to me as I spend a lot of time with my twin sister, younger brother, and sister. I have also gained practical experience in environmental advocacy as a Brand Ambassador for Earth Friendly Group and through volunteering with the North Devon Marine Project.
The climate crisis, environmental degradation, and environmental injustice are among the most pressing challenges facing current and future generations. While Cosmos won’t have all the answers, I aim to explore how legal frameworks, policy interventions, and sustainable practices can work together to create balance between human needs and environmental health. My posts will highlight research, practical solutions, and the ways law can help shape a fairer, more sustainable future.
Every day, I’m learning new tips and strategies for living sustainably, improving my gardening skills, and caring for my animals. I also continue to explore how legal knowledge can be applied in environmental advocacy, policy, and practical action. Please reach out and engage- I’m happy to hear from you and learn together :)
